Career choices for the certified fitness trainer

Want to explore the broad world of health and fitness? If you’re like me, working on a fitness training certification, or if you’re interested in entering the industry, here are career choices that will fuel your passion.

Personal Trainer

Being a personal trainer is a rewarding experience. It allows an individual to be involved in someone’s goals and dreams. As a personal trainer, it is your duty to guide your clients in sticking to a fitness plan based on their current physical state and goals. Aside from doing one-to-one consulting sessions, personal trainers can also do virtual training or group exercise sessions.

Gym Assistant

For those who are still working on their certification, becoming a gym assistant is a good start. It is a customer service position, but you’ll get great on-the-job experience before you go a notch higher as a personal trainer or as a fitness consultant. Doing this job will definitely benefit your journey to becoming a fitness professional.

Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant

This appealing job is ideal for individuals who want to be set apart from other personal trainers. Lifestyle and weight management consultants are with their clients in every step of their journey, and not just inside the gym. Unlike personal trainers who are limited within the four walls of the gym, lifestyle and weight management consultants help clients change their eating and other lifestyle habits to aid long-term improvement. This job is a good way to level up one’s personal training career.

Fun workouts to try in 2017

It looks like 2017 is going to be an exciting year for fitness aficionados. With the release of wearable tech and fun workouts making their way into the mainstream, there are a lot of new things to try when it comes to keeping our bodies in tip-top shape. From what I’ve been hearing, here are some of the workouts that will be popular this year:

1. Body weight training

If you want to quit using classic weights even for a short time, body weight training is the way to go. No-weight workouts are a great way to kick-start an exercise routine especially for those who prefer to get fit from the comfort of their own home. Aside from the traditional push-up and pull-ups, there are other body weight exercises that will surely target all the muscle areas.

2. Specialized sports training

Those who want to train like their favorite MMA fighter or football player can do so with the help of a specialized sports training studio. These studios can also help those who are planning on joining a marathon or a triathlon. It seems that in 2017, more people will get into pro-athlete programs.

3. Boxing

Boxing has always been an option for a total body workout. However, in 2017, it will become more popular especially among women. With the opening of boxing studios and their affordable rates, more people will get their gloves on and aspire to have moves like Ali.

These workout trends look fun. As I’m already into boxing, I’m looking forward to trying out specialized sports training. I’m sure that there will be more workout trends throughout 2017 worth trying out. Who’s up for a fitness challenge?

Just Married: A Newlyweds Guide To Buying Their First Home

The honeymoon bliss is still in the air – but newlyweds are beginning to feel reality closing in. After the fantastic and fairytale wedding, it is now on to more practical considerations. One of the first things newlyweds think of is buying a home. Before making that decision, many real estate experts recommend sitting down and considering these few things:

Both of your credit scores: Ideally, a couple’s credit score should match. This makes applying for a loan easier and eliminates any stress or hassle usually involved with financial institutions. It is unfortunate but if one person’s credit score is significantly lower than the others, it could affect any loan applications.

Think of the future: A good question to ask is: Where would we like to live in five years? Remember that most newlyweds’ first homes end up being their family home. Take a look at the neighborhood and imagine raising kids there. Even for couples that do not want children, it is still important to assess whether the area is somewhere they’d want to live in for at least five more years.

The question of "if": Perhaps this is not the most romantic conversation, but couples should ask themselves who would get the home if ever they separate. This helps determine insurance policies and who is legally responsible for the house.

Newlyweds are suggested to visit their local realtor for more advice. These professionals are able to give suggestions based on the couple’s specific needs and situations.
